Recently there have been a number of questions regarding brake testing of rail freight wagons in the industry.

 

Well, the Davis Group (WH Davis and Davis wagon Services) have invested over £70k on two state of the art automated digital brake test rigs.

 

We believe this is a first in the UK freight industry.

 

One will be used at WH Davis for new builds and one at DWS at its Ferrybridge depot.

 

These units are connected to the wagon and then go through the whole range of brake tests automatically. The results are recorded on a database, or can be shown on a paper record.

 

The unit can also be used for fault finding if an issue occurs to assist in a speedy repair.

 

These units will take away any possibility of a human operational failure during the brake test, and will ensure accurate results for the customer are ensured.

 

Training on the units took place last week at Ferrybridge depot, and they will shortly be in use every day.

 

We do have plans in place to extend the number of these units in the future.
